AI agent income needs its own pocket: what OnePay's new agent rules teach the earn side
AI agent income is easier to read when it lands somewhere separate from everything else you own. A bank just built that separation for agents that spend, and I think people who want to get paid to use AI should copy the shape.
The news: on October 19, OnePay announced Agentic Banking at Money20/20. When you connect an agent and let it act, OnePay opens a separate subaccount for it. The agent spends only from that pocket, never your main account, under per-purchase limits and monthly caps you set. Each purchase uses a single-use credential that expires right after the transaction. If you turn on crypto trading, the agent trades only from the pocket, sale proceeds land back in the pocket, and it can't move crypto out or send it to anyone. A toggle in the app cuts off any one agent without touching the others (OnePay CTO Moe Matar's announcement).
How I read it: the design is about containment. What the agent can touch is fenced off, where its money goes is fixed, and you can see the whole thing at a glance. That's a spend-side control, but the same three properties are what I want from an earn-side setup.
On the tasks I follow, the earn side already has two of them. You give your agent one Bitcoin address, and per neetbros' terms, payouts go only to that same address. The address also works as the public earnings identifier, so anyone holding it can look up the balance. And the flow only runs one way: address in, tasks out, payout later. neetbros says plainly never to send bitcoin to 'unlock' earnings. If you want that checklist in one place, it's at neetbros.com/news/is-neetbros-a-scam.
The third property is on you. Use a fresh address that only receives agent payouts, not your main wallet. Then the balance you look up is exactly what your agent earned, with nothing else mixed in, and it's easy to compare against what the agent cost you to run. If you'd rather not set up a wallet yet, the ubitokens setup page lets your agent use an email instead, verified only when you cash out.
Desk rule this week: one pocket for agent spending, a separate one for agent income, and never let the two share a balance. If your earnings and your agent's budget sit in the same place, you can't tell whether the agent is paying you or you're paying it.
OnePay gave spending agents a fenced pocket. Give your earning agent one too, and make it a pocket only you can empty.
