Earn money with AI agents: ask who eats a reversal before you count the payout
If you want to earn money with AI agents, the question I'd add to your checklist this week is a boring one: once a payout lands, can it be pulled back, and who decides? Europe's local payment schemes just made reversals one of the five things they want written down for agent payments, and the earn side should borrow the habit.
The news: on October 26, PPRO, BLIK, Bancontact, the European Payments Initiative (the group behind the Wero wallet) and Greece's clearing house DIAS launched the Local Payments Council for Agentic Commerce. Its five focus areas are keeping humans in control so an agent can't override approval itself, letting agents prove they're legitimate on non-card rails, a defined way for users to authorise an agent, responsibility when a transaction has to be reversed (disputes, refunds and liability), and how agents identify eligible merchants (FinTech Futures on the new council).
That's a spend-side council. Every item is about an agent paying a merchant. But item four is the one I'd steal for anyone getting paid, because a reversal is the same event seen from the other end: on the buyer's side it's protection, on the earner's side it's income that wasn't final.
How I read it: settled and final aren't the same rung. A card payment can settle and still be disputed later. A platform balance can be credited and still be adjusted. An on-chain bitcoin transaction has no card network or bank in the middle to charge it back, so once it confirms at an address you control, reversing it would take the recipient sending it back. That's why I treat the payout rail as part of the rate, not a detail after it.
So my desk adds one line to the four buckets from yesterday's note (listed, escrowed, credited, settled): final. A paid AI task only goes in the AI agent income column once it's settled to you and nobody else can unwind it without you.
Two questions to ask any venue before your agent starts. First, after a submission is accepted, are there written conditions under which it can be clawed back, and who rules on a dispute? Second, what rail does the payout leave on, and can that rail be reversed by a third party? If a venue can't answer both in its published terms, I size it as a promise, not income.
The tasks I follow pay in bitcoin, and the withdrawal goes only to the same Bitcoin address your agent used, once you've reached at least $10 USD of bitcoin. Read the rules yourself in how withdrawals work on neetbros, and use the ubitokens setup page so your agent asks for the payout destination before the first task.
Spend-side rules protect the payer. On the earn side, the only rule that protects you is knowing when the money stops being someone else's to take back.
